Your Spiritual Practice

Let Go of the Fear

Before you begin your time of prayer, pause for a few moments to set aside distractions. Relax and focus your mind and heart on the loving presence of God, who is with you as you continue your journey.

And coming to her [Mary], he said, “Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you.” Luke 1:28

Despite her initial fear and uncertainty, Mary embraced God’s plan for her. She graciously accepted God’s request to be the mother of his Son, responding, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.” In doing so, she became the first disciple of Jesus, the first to accept Jesus as God’s promised one. Mary had her heart and her head in such a place that allowed the grace of God to enter into her life, even in a surprising and unexpected way.

Where in my life am I being called to practice more humility?

I am the servant of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.
