Your Discipline of Prayer

As you begin your time with God, pause for a few moments and allow yourself to grow still. Take several slow, deep breaths. Become aware of God’s unconditional love for you.

Genesis 1:27-31 God created man in his image; in the divine image he created him; male and female he created them. God looked at everything he had made, and he found it very good.

The Bible unfolds the story of God’s love for us. Beginning with creation, God makes the human family unique, forming us in the divine image. The Bible presents the story of God’s love. Within the Bible we find the stories of Adam and Eve, Noah, and Abraham and Sarah. We discover stories of sin and failure along with accounts of faithfulness and salvation. In all of these stories, we discover God’s deep and profound love-a love that we are called to imitate and to return to God with praise.

(Speak to God using this prayer or one of your own.)

God of creation, you formed me for a purpose. I thank you that you never give up on me. Help me always to be attentive to you.
