As I Begin My Day…

Psalm 119:33-40 (ESV): “Teach me, O Lord, the way of your statutes; and I will keep it to the end. Give me understanding, that I may keep your law and observe it with my whole heart. Lead me in the path of your commandments, for I delight in it. Incline my heart to your testimonies, and not to selfish gain! Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things; and give me life in your ways. Confirm to your servant your promise, that you may be feared. Turn away the reproach that I dread, for your rules are good. Behold, I long for your precepts; in your righteousness give me life.”

Morning Prayer:

Heavenly Father, as the sun rises and a new day begins, I come before you with a humble heart, seeking your guidance and wisdom. Just as the psalmist prayed in Psalm 119, I, too, pray for your instruction and understanding.

Lord, teach me your ways, the way of your statutes, and I promise to keep them until the end of my days. Grant me the wisdom to comprehend your law and to follow it with my whole heart. Lead me along the path of your commandments, for I find true delight in obeying you.

Father, I ask that you incline my heart towards your testimonies and away from the pursuit of selfish gain. Help me to turn my eyes from worthless distractions that fill this world and fix them on you, for it is in your ways that I find true life and purpose.

Lord, fulfill your promise to your servant, for in your promises, there is a deep reverence and fear of your holy name. Remove the reproach and fear that I may dread, for your rules are good and just. I long for your precepts, and I pray that in your righteousness, you grant me the abundant life that only you can provide.

As I begin this day, may these words of the psalmist be a guiding light for my journey. In the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.
