As My Day Begins

Philippians 2:1-13 (ESV): “So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

Morning Prayer:

Heavenly Father,

As I start this new day, I am reminded of the profound wisdom found in your Word, in Philippians 2:1-13. Lord, grant me the strength to embrace the mindset of humility, just as Christ humbled himself for us. Help me to count others as more significant than myself, to look not only to my own interests but also to the interests of those around me.

Fill my heart with love and compassion, that I may show affection and sympathy to those I encounter today. Let your Spirit guide my actions, that I may walk in unity and harmony with my fellow believers, as we all seek to glorify your name.

Lord Jesus, you set the ultimate example of selflessness and obedience. As I go about my daily tasks, may I remember your sacrifice on the cross and strive to follow your example. Empower me to live out my faith with fear and trembling, knowing that it is you who works in me, both to will and to work for your good pleasure.

I pray that in all I do today, I bring glory to your name and reflect your love to those I meet. Thank you for this new day, Lord. May it be a day of growth, service, and blessing.

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Note of Encouragement:

Dear brothers and sisters,

As we embark on this new day, let us carry the words of Philippians 2:1-13 in our hearts. Remember that in Christ, we find encouragement, comfort, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. In a world that often promotes selfishness and pride, we are called to a different way of living.

Embrace humility and selflessness in your interactions today. Each act of kindness, each moment of considering others before yourself, is a testimony to the love of Christ within you. Just as Jesus humbled himself and was exalted by God, so too will our lives bear fruit when we walk in his footsteps.

Work out your salvation with reverence and awe, knowing that it is God who empowers you. As you go about your day, keep the name of Jesus in your heart and on your lips, for in his name, every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that he is Lord.

May this day be a testament to your faith, a reflection of Christ’s love, and a source of blessing to those around you. Go forth with courage and joy, for the Spirit of God is with you.

In Christ’s love,

Michael
