Matthew 26:48-56 Forcing the Issue
The religious leaders had not arrested Jesus in the Temple for fear of a riot. Instead, they came secretly at night. Although it had looked as though Satan were getting the upper hand, everything was proceeding according to God’s plan. Still not understanding this and wanting to protect Jesus, one of the disciples pulled a sword. But Jesus told Peter to put away his sword and allow God’s plan to unfold. At times it is tempting to take matters into our own hands, to force the issue. Usually such moves lead to sin.
Lesson: We must trust God to work out his plan.
