As I Rise Up…

The quoted scripture, Nehemiah 9:30 from the New International Version (NIV), states: “For many years you were patient with them. By your Spirit you warned them through your prophets. Yet they paid no attention, so you gave them into the hands of the neighboring peoples.”

Here is a morning prayer derived from the above text:

“Dear Heavenly Father, as we wake to greet this new day, we are reminded of Your unwavering patience and the limitless grace You have extended to us. Your love has persisted despite our numerous shortcomings, mirroring the patience You showed in the days of Nehemiah.

Lord, open our hearts to the guidance of Your Spirit. Grant us the wisdom and the discernment to recognize the warnings and guidance You provide through Your servants and the world around us. Enable us to give our full attention to Your Word, in recognition of the divine wisdom that is embedded within.

Forgive us, dear Lord, when we falter, when we pay no heed, and when we stray from Your path. Like the people in the days of Nehemiah, we often fail to recognize Your voice amidst the clamor of our daily lives.

But in Your infinite mercy, remind us that You don’t abandon us. You guide us back, even when we get lost, even when we are given into the trials and tribulations of this world. Strengthen our faith, O God, that we may not be swayed by our neighboring troubles.

As we journey into this new day, may we carry the lessons from the days of Nehemiah. Teach us patience and perseverance. Help us to trust Your divine timing and to embrace Your providence.

Bless this day, Lord. Guide our actions and our words, so that they may be pleasing to You. And in all that we do, may we honor You and illuminate Your love to those around us.

In Your holy name, we pray. Amen.”
