Scripture: Acts 1:7 (AMPC)
“He said to them, It is not for you to become acquainted with and know what time brings [the things and events of time and their definite periods] or fixed years and seasons (their critical niche in time), which the Father has appointed (fixed and reserved) by His own choice and authority and personal power.”
Morning Meditation
As we rise to greet the unfolding promise of a new day, we are reminded in Acts 1:7 that the knowledge of divine timing is not ours to possess. The disciples, in the wake of Christ’s resurrection, were filled with anticipation. They longed for answers about the kingdom, restoration, and the chronology of God’s plans. Jesus’ reply, though it may seem like a denial, is actually a gracious redirection. He gently calls them to a deeper trust: that the times and seasons of their lives are not random, but sovereignly appointed by the FATHER.
This truth resonates deeply in our own lives. We often want timelines for healing, deliverance, breakthrough, or calling. We hunger for certainty in a world full of unpredictability. Yet Jesus reminds us that timing belongs to the FATHER, not to our speculation. His sovereignty isn’t just about power—it’s deeply personal. The text says that these times are fixed by His “own choice and authority and personal power.” In other words, we are not at the mercy of chaos but in the care of a loving, intentional Creator.
Let that realization bring peace to your soul today. Rather than anxiously asking, “When?” or “How long?”, let us instead ask, “Who am I walking with today?” Because when we trust the One who holds time, we don’t need to fear what time may bring. The next verse in Acts (1:8) promises the presence and power of the HOLY SPIRIT—a reminder that while we may not know what’s coming, we are never alone. As you begin your day, release your need for control. Rest in the assurance that every moment is known and appointed by the FATHER. Live faithfully, walk humbly, and let your heart be at peace.
Morning Prayer
To the Heavenly Father:
FATHER, I begin this day acknowledging that You are the Lord of all time. Every hour, every season, and every chapter of my life is held securely in Your hands. Forgive me for the times I have worried over the “when” instead of resting in the “Who.” I confess my desire to understand everything before I obey, and yet I hear Your SON’s words calling me to trust instead of control. You have appointed all things with purpose and power. I do not walk into an unknown day; I walk into a day prepared by You. Thank You for being a God who is both mighty in authority and tender in love.
To the Son, Jesus Christ:
JESUS, thank You for Your wisdom and patience with the disciples, and with me. You never scold for our questions, but You always guide us to better ones. You point us away from worry and toward worship, away from speculation and toward service. You have shown me that obedience matters more than understanding, and faith more than foresight. Help me today to follow You with joy. Let my heart be content in the unknown, because You are known. Let my eyes stay fixed not on future events, but on Your eternal presence in my present moment.
To the Holy Spirit:
HOLY SPIRIT, You are my helper and my comforter. You are the gift JESUS promised when He told us that the times were in the FATHER’s hands. Thank You for being my constant guide. Teach me to live today with spiritual attentiveness, listening for Your voice, responding to Your nudges, and trusting Your leadership. When I feel impatient or uncertain, draw my heart back to the truth that You are here, and that is enough. Fill me with peace, boldness, and wisdom as I go through this day. Let my life reflect the steadiness of a soul anchored in divine timing.
Thought for the Day
You don’t need to know what time it is on Heaven’s clock. You only need to trust the One who set it.
