FRIDAY John 16:17-28 A New Day Jesus is

FRIDAY
John 16:17-28 A New Day
Jesus is talking about a new relationship between the believer and God. Previously, people had approached God through priests. After Jesus’ resurrection, any believer could approach God directly. A new day has dawned and now all believers are priests, talking with God personally and directly (Hebrews 10:19-23).
Lesson: We approach God, not because of our own merit, but because Jesus, our great High Priest, has made us acceptable to God.

THURSDAY THANKSGIVING
John 16:12-16 The Pathfinder
The Holy Spirit is our guide, navigator, and pathfinder. Jesus gave us a reliable map when he gave us his life and his words. These essential resources assist us to find our way as his disciples. Jesus has also given us time. The original disciples could not absorb all Jesus had to teach them at once. Jesus said the Holy Spirit would tell them “about the future”—the nature of their mission, the opposition they would face, and the final outcome of their efforts. We must never resent the limitations we have. Our knowledge of the way and the future will always be limited.
Lesson: We must trust and follow the pathfinder Christ has given us.

WEDNESDAY John 16:5-11 The Spirit Unless

WEDNESDAY
John 16:5-11 The Spirit
Unless Jesus had done what he had come to do, there would be no gospel. If he had not died, he could not have removed our sins; he could not have risen again and defeated death. If he had not gone back to the Father, the Holy Spirit would not have come. Christ’s presence on earth was limited to one place at a time. His leaving meant that he could be present to the whole world through the Holy Spirit.
Lesson: God wants you to know you are not alone.
