Heart and Mind

God may well renew our minds through the reading and understanding of His Word but it is in our hearts that He chooses to take residence.  He can with our discipline mature us in our wisdom of His ways but it takes His direct intervention into our souls to address the needs of our heart.  It is there we are most vulnerable.  It is there we possess the least control.  The prophet knew our heart could not be trusted to guide us.

While I may obey what His Word tells me, I must submit to His healing what my heart generates.  It is there the deepest of my emotions for Him linger but also where my broken nature is at its worst.  That healing is experienced in our experience of His love.  Ask God to speak His love to your heart.  Ask His Spirit to generate that sense of His fatherhood.

“There is no fear in love but perfect love casts out fear because fear involves punishment and the one who fears is not perfect in love.”  I John 4:18

It is His love, not yours, that will free you from those fears that haunt you within.
