Your Discipline of Prayer

Before you begin your time with God, pause for a few moments of silent reflection. Take several deep breaths and be aware of the loving presence of God, who is with you as you continue this faith journey.

Matthew 5:17 Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have not come to abolish but to fulfill.

On Mount Sinai, Moses received the Ten Commandments, which revealed how the people were to live according to a covenant with God. On the cross we see a visible sign of God’s great love and bear witness to the sacrifice required to restore our relationship with him. In Jesus we realize the fulfillment of the covenant of Sinai. Jesus shows us how to live according to the law and to love God and one another.

(Speak to Jesus, using this prayer or one of your own.)

Jesus, you showed us how to follow God’s law in a way that frees us to love God and one another. Help me to live the spirit of the law of God with all my being.
