A Word to the Wise

Micah 6:6-8 states:

“With what shall I come before the Lord and bow down before the exalted God? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of olive oil? Shall I offer my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

My Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

As I go through this Your day, I humbly come before You, seeking Your presence and guidance. I recognize that it is not through elaborate sacrifices or external acts that I can truly honor You, but through the condition of my heart and the way I live my life. Help me, O Lord, to understand what You require of me.

Grant me the wisdom to act justly in all my dealings, to treat others with fairness and kindness, and to stand up for what is right. Open my eyes to the needs and struggles of those around me, that I may extend a helping hand and be a source of comfort and compassion.

Teach me to love mercy, Father, that I may not harbor resentment or hold onto grudges, but rather forgive as You have forgiven me. Enable me to show compassion and understanding to those who may have wronged me, remembering that we are all imperfect and in need of Your grace.

Above all, instill in me a spirit of humility, O God. Help me to recognize that I am but a humble servant in Your sight, utterly dependent on Your love and guidance. Keep me from pride and arrogance, and instead, let me walk in humility, surrendering my will to Yours, and seeking Your direction in all that I do.

As I serve Your way, I ask for Your strength, Your wisdom, and Your presence to be with me. May I be a vessel of Your light and love, reflecting Your goodness to the world around me.

In Your precious name, I pray.

Amen.
