As the Day Begins…

Romans 10:5-15 (ESV): For Moses writes about the righteousness that is based on the law, that the person who does the commandments shall live by them. But the righteousness based on faith says, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?'” (that is, to bring Christ down) “or ‘Who will descend into the abyss?'” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Morning Prayer: Heavenly Father, as the dawn breaks and a new day begins, we come before you with hearts full of gratitude and awe. Your Word, as spoken through the apostle Paul, reminds us that righteousness is not merely found in obeying the law, but in the deep faith that places its trust in your Son, Jesus Christ. We thank you for the gift of salvation, for the message of hope that rings true across all nations and tongues.

Lord, you have made it clear that the path to salvation is not hidden in unreachable heights or unfathomable depths. It is as close as the words on our lips and the faith in our hearts. Help us, O God, to declare with our mouths that Jesus is our Lord and Savior, and to believe wholeheartedly that you raised him from the dead, conquering sin and death.

In a world where divisions often prevail, we acknowledge that there is no distinction in your eyes between people of different backgrounds. You are the Lord of all, offering your abundant grace and blessings to those who call upon your name. As we start this day, let our lives reflect the unity and love that come from knowing you, the one true God.

May we be beacons of your light, dear Lord, shining your truth and compassion to those around us. Empower us to share the message of salvation with boldness and humility, that all who call upon your name may experience your saving grace.

In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

May this morning prayer, rooted in the wisdom of Romans 10:5-15, guide your thoughts and actions throughout the day.
