As the Day Begins
Philippians 2:9-11
“Therefore, God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

There is something awe-inspiring about the way Paul writes these words in Philippians 2:9-11. After describing Christ’s humility—His willingness to take the form of a servant, to step into the brokenness of humanity, and to die a shameful death on the cross—Paul lifts our eyes to the Father’s response. Jesus is not merely honored; He is exalted above all. The arc of the passage takes us from the lowest humiliation to the highest glory, reminding us that obedience and surrender to God always lead to victory in His time.
As we begin this day, these verses call us to remember that life is not about elevating our own name but honoring the Name above all names. Our culture urges us to make ourselves known, to build platforms, to prove our worth. Yet Scripture reminds us that every knee will bow and every tongue will confess—not to our achievements, but to Jesus Christ as Lord. Triune Prayer
Heavenly Father, I thank You this morning for lifting up Jesus above every name. Your plan of salvation amazes me, and I am grateful that You did not leave humanity in despair but exalted the One who humbled Himself for my sake. Today I ask for wisdom to live humbly before You, to resist the temptation of pride, and to trust that You see and reward what is done in secret. Father, keep me mindful that every step I take reflects back on Your glory, and may my actions today draw others closer to Your Kingdom.
Lord Jesus, Son of God, I bow before Your Name, confessing You as Lord over my life. Thank You for enduring the cross, for carrying my sin, and for showing me what true obedience looks like. Teach me to carry my own cross faithfully today. When I am weary, remind me of Your strength. When I am anxious, remind me that You are enthroned at the right hand of the Father. Help me proclaim, not just with words but with my lifestyle, that You are my Savior and King. Let my tongue acknowledge You in every conversation, and may Your love guide me in every interaction.
Holy Spirit, I invite You to move in my heart today. Fill me with courage to live unashamed of Jesus’ Name in a world that often resists it. Help me to discern opportunities to witness, to comfort, and to serve. Guard me from discouragement, and remind me that even when I stumble, Christ remains Lord. Shape my thoughts, direct my prayers, and empower me to live with joy. Spirit of truth, be my strength and my comfort, and guide me to glorify the Father and the Son in all I do.
