Born of woman, I am of few days and full of trouble. I come forth like a flower and fade away; I flee like a shadow and do not continue. The world is passing away, and the lust of it; but if I do Your will, God, I abide forever. As in Adam I die, in Christ I shall be made alive. Death is swallowed up in victory. For if I live, I live to the Lord; and if I die, I die to the Lord. Whether I live or die, I am the Lord’s. To live is Christ, and to die is gain.
I do not cast away my confidence, a great reward. I have need of endurance, so that after I have done Your will, Lord God, I may receive the promise. For yet a little while, and You who are coming will come. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore I cast off the works of darkness, and I put on the armor of light. The end of all things is at hand; therefore I will be serious and watchful in my prayers.
Teach me to live, Lord, mindful that time is short.
