The goal of the new identity in Christ and a lifelong relationship of love, trust, and obedience is quite simple: to glorify God. Once again, as God intended, Jesus leads by example. Spiritual transformation requires that the believer love in the self-sacrificial way that Jesus did. As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you. Now remain in my love (John 15:9).
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:34).
Loving God brings a responsibility to fulfill God’s purposes of making His love known to the world. When a believer is truly spiritually transformed, he or she will find ways to share the love of God with others.
God will be glorified when the believer is spiritually transformed.
