Ever since Disney made a fortune off of Pirates of the Caribbean it’s been looking for a way to turn other Walt Disney theme park staples into billion dollar franchises. It’s a cynical move but, well, if you’re going to do it, you might as well get Brad Bird to direct. Bird is the director behind The Incredibles who made a very successful leap to live action directing with Mission: Impossible 4. Now, he’s taking on Tomorrowland, starring George Clooney and Britt Robertson. A movie based off a Disney park doesn’t sound like the least obvious cash grab we’ve ever heard, but the trailer is definitely intriguing and Bird’s involvement is reassuring. We’ll find out how it all goes down May of next year …
