Justin Bieber Did What?

Justin Bieber has headed to a Los Angeles prison to spread the Word of God.

Bieber, a committed Christian, visited inmates at the California State Prison with his pastor, Judah Smith, in Palmdale, California.

Entertainment website TMZ states that according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the warden of the state prison signed off on a brief visit for him and his pastor to support faith-based programs.

Bieber reportedly made the call himself to visit the prison and share a story of repentance to inmates. Bieber has been in trouble with the law in the past, but his life seems to be turning around as he deepens his faith.

The singer recently hosed down comments that he was studying to become a pastor at Hillsong church.

British celebrity tabloid OK Magazine reported that Bieber, who is venturing more and more into Christian music, plans to study to become a pastor.

“Justin doesn’t plan to give up his music career, but he feels there’s a bigger calling out there for him,” a source told OK! magazine. “He wants to be a full-fledged minister next year.”

While OK reported Bieber will become a Hillsong pastor, neither Bieber or Hillsong have confirmed this. In fact Biber is a member of Judah Smith’s Churchome, which runs services in Los Angeles.

  1. Interesting. What I have to wonder is, what will he be teaching? According to Scripture, a Pastor must be a married man with children because the Church must be able to determine his ability to teach and lead. While he has met half of that criteria, there is still the matter of children. His fitness as husband and father must be judged before he can lead a congregation, so as near as I can tell it he isn’t yet fit to lead.

Furthermore, there is the content of what he will be teaching. This is just about as important as his fitness to stand as a Pastor, and it simply cannot be understated and ignored. What are the doctrinal positions of the church he’s attending? Where do they stand on the essential issues? Is their teaching biblical in nature, or are they peddling heresy? I worry as much for him as I do for those he may be teaching in the future. I admit I’ve never been a fan, but I will not deny that the Lord has blessed him with tremendous talent. How awesome it would be if he were to genuinely use those talents for the glory of the Kingdom and the Lord.
