Your Spiritual Practice of Prayer

Before you begin your retreat, pause for a moment and turn your focus inward. Take several slow, deep breaths. Remember how deeply you are loved by God.

Luke 2:10 “Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.”

God chose shepherds to reveal this Good News of great joy. They go to Bethlehem to see for themselves, and behold the Savior of the world lying in a manger. God has come. There is no need to fear. Hope and joy abound. It’s impossible to keep this kind of Good News to themselves. It rings in their hearts and in the heavens above. God has visited his people!

How can I express the joy of Jesus’ presence in my life?

Loving God, thank you for your presence among us. Help me to believe in your Good News and be a sign of great joy.
