Praise for Our Savior

Hebrews 7:25 ‘Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.’

Our Father in heaven,
We thank you for a Savior who is fully equal to all of the demands of saving sinners,
for One whose blood has perfectly atoned for human sin,
for One whose righteousness covers all our sin, and for One whose mighty Spirit is able to bring us from death to life,
and from life in Christ here on earth to fullness of life in your presence.

Lord, you know how often men fail us.
We look to them to help us in some respect, and they are either unable or unwilling,
but we thank you that it is not so when it comes to the most crucial of all issues
—how we can be right with you.

We thank you for a Savior who is both able and willing to save all who come to you by him.

We thank you for the strength of his commitment to every one of his blood-bought people, for his commitment to continuing the work that he has begun in us,
to protecting us from the world, the flesh, and the devil; and from all those forces ranged against us which have such power to destroy us if we were left to ourselves.

We pray that we, who are your people today, would be comforted in the knowledge of whose hands we have placed our eternal concerns, that being in the hands of Jesus we can be in no better place.
Those who trust in him will never be put to shame.

We pray that your blessing, O God, this day would be on the preaching of Christ, that many others would be sovereignly drawn to put their trust in him,
would enter into that living, loving, lasting union, and would know the blessedness of being joined to that love from which nothing can ever separate us.

Come to us, we pray, O God;
Come in Christ,
Come by the Spirit, and richly bless us.

We pray that we may be able to leave all our cares and concerns with you. Give us grace to cast every one of them upon you, including the burden of our sin, for the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses from all sin.

We would confess our sin;
We would receive his forgiveness;
We would open our hearts wide to all of the influences of grace this day.
We pray that you will come down, O Lord, as dew upon the dry ground, as sunshine, with every spiritual refreshment.

Grant to us humble and teachable hearts that there may be a deep receptiveness to all that you have to say.

May we be comforted;
May we have grace to give you the glory and the praise that are your due.

Help us, we pray, for Jesus’ sake.
