Before I Sleep…

“2 Corinthians 4:8-12” in the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) translation:

“We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be made visible in our bodies. For while we live, we are always being given up to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus may be made visible in our mortal flesh. So death is at work in us, but life in you.”

Benediction:

May the grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you, [Name of the believers].

As you journey through life, may you hold onto the profound truths found in the words of 2 Corinthians 4:8-12. Remember that though afflictions may surround you, you shall not be crushed. In times of confusion, you will not be driven to despair. When persecution comes, you will not be forsaken. And though you may be struck down, you shall not be destroyed.

Carry within you the awareness that as believers, you are called to bear the death of Jesus, that the life of Jesus may also be made visible through you. Embrace the sacrificial nature of discipleship, knowing that through your surrender, the resurrection power of Christ can be manifest in your mortal bodies.

Acknowledge that even as you face challenges, life is at work in you, offering hope and renewal. And may this life that dwells within you overflow, touching the lives of others, bringing them closer to the abundant grace and love of our Savior.

Therefore, go forth in the assurance that even in the face of adversity, you are not alone. Trust in the strength and faithfulness of our God, who will sustain you. May your lives be marked by selflessness, perseverance, and a steadfast commitment to living for the glory of God.

May you find comfort, courage, and inspiration in these words, carrying them in your hearts as a reminder of the transformative power of the gospel. May you be a beacon of light and hope in a world that is in need, shining forth the life of Jesus to all whom you encounter.

Now, as you go, may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God the Father, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit abide with you now and forevermore.

Amen.
