Psalm 119:129-136 (NIV translation):
“Your statutes are wonderful; therefore, I obey them. The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. I open my mouth and pant, longing for your commands. Turn to me and have mercy on me, as you always do to those who love your name. Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me. Redeem me from human oppression, that I may obey your precepts. Make your face shine on your servant and teach me your decrees. Streams of tears flow from my eyes, for your law is not obeyed.”
Morning Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
As I rise to greet this new day, I am filled with gratitude for the gift of life and the opportunity to draw closer to You through Your precious Word. Your statutes are truly wonderful, and I desire to walk in obedience to them all the days of my life.
Lord, I pray that Your Word would be a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. As I meditate on Your teachings, may my understanding be enlightened, and may I gain wisdom even in the simplest matters.
I hunger and thirst for Your commands, dear Lord. My soul longs to know and follow Your ways. Please grant me the strength and discipline to seek Your guidance continually.
Turn Your face towards me, O Lord, and shower Your mercy upon me. I acknowledge my human weaknesses and flaws, but I trust in Your unfailing love and grace. Help me to love Your name and honor You in all that I do.
Lead me, O God, in the paths of righteousness according to Your Word. Guard my steps, so I may not be entangled in sin or temptation. Set me free from any oppression or bondage that hinders me from living a life that pleases You.
Teach me, Lord, and let Your face shine upon me as I study Your Word. May I be transformed by its truth and be a faithful servant, reflecting Your love and goodness to others.
The world around me is filled with brokenness and rebellion against Your law. It grieves my heart to witness such disobedience. Lord, let streams of compassion flow from my eyes, and use me as an instrument of Your peace and reconciliation in this world.
In the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who is the Living Word, I pray. Amen.
