As the Day Begins…

Psalm 145:8-9, 14-21 (New International Version):

8 The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love.

9 The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.

14 The Lord upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down.

15 The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food at the proper time.

16 You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing.

17 The Lord is righteous in all his ways and faithful in all he does.

18 The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.

19 He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them.

20 The Lord watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy.

21 My mouth will speak in praise of the Lord. Let every creature praise his holy name forever and ever.

Morning Prayer:

Gracious and compassionate Lord, As the sun rises and a new day dawns, We come before you with hearts full of gratitude and praise.

You are slow to anger and rich in love, Your goodness extends to all, And your compassion knows no bounds.

We thank you for upholding us when we fall, And for lifting us when we are bowed down. You are the source of our strength and hope.

As we set our eyes upon you, We trust that you will provide for all our needs, Satisfying the desires of every living thing.

Your righteousness and faithfulness are evident in all you do, And we are in awe of your presence and guidance.

In the morning light, we draw near to you, Calling on your name in truth and sincerity. Hear our prayers, O Lord, and answer us.

Fulfill the desires of those who fear you, Hear our cries and save us from all troubles.

Watch over us throughout this day, And grant us the wisdom to walk in your ways.

May our mouths be filled with praise for you, And may every creature join in worshiping your holy name.

We commit this day into your hands, Trusting that you will lead us, guide us, and protect us.

In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
