Exodus 17:1-7:
“The whole Israelite community set out from the Desert of Sin, traveling from place to place as the Lord commanded. They camped at Rephidim, but there was no water for the people to drink. So they quarreled with Moses and said, ‘Give us water to drink.’ Moses replied, ‘Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you put the Lord to the test?’ But the people were thirsty for water there, and they grumbled against Moses. They said, ‘Why did you bring us up out of Egypt to make us and our children and livestock die of thirst?’
Then Moses cried out to the Lord, ‘What am I to do with these people? They are almost ready to stone me.’ The Lord answered Moses, ‘Go out in front of the people. Take with you some of the elders of Israel and take in your hand the staff with which you struck the Nile and go. I will stand there before you by the rock at Horeb. Strike the rock, and water will come out of it for the people to drink.’ So Moses did this in the sight of the elders of Israel.”
Now, let us craft a morning prayer inspired by this passage:
Dear Heavenly Father,
As I embark on this new day, I find inspiration in the journey of the Israelites through the desert, where they faced thirst and uncertainty. Just as they cried out for water, I come before you with my own needs and concerns.
Lord, you are the source of living water, and I know that you provide for your children. In times of thirst, when my soul feels dry and my spirit weary, I turn to you. Just as Moses struck the rock at Horeb, I ask that you open the wellspring of your blessings in my life.
Grant me, O Lord, the strength, and wisdom to face the challenges of this day. Help me to remember that even in the most barren of deserts, you are with me, guiding me with your loving hand.
As I go about my day, may I carry with me the faith of those who witnessed the miracle of water flowing from the rock. Let me not grumble or doubt but trust in your providence and grace.
In your name, I pray. Amen.

Stay faithful, and may your day be filled with God’s blessings and grace.
