As the Day Begins

Ezekiel 18:1-4, 25-32 (ESV):

The word of the Lord came to me: “What do you mean by repeating this proverb concerning the land of Israel, ‘The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge’? As I live, declares the Lord God, this proverb shall no more be used by you in Israel. Behold, all souls are mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is mine: the soul who sins shall die.”

“Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not just.’ Hear now, O house of Israel: Is my way not just? Is it not your ways that are not just? When a righteous person turns away from his righteousness and does injustice, he shall die for it; for the injustice that he has done he shall die.”

“But you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not just.’ O house of Israel, I will judge each of you according to his ways.”

Morning Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

As I rise to meet the new day, I am reminded of your timeless words from the book of Ezekiel. You declare that all souls are yours, and it is the soul that sins that shall bear its iniquity. Help me, Lord, to recognize the weight of my own actions and the choices I make in this life. May I not blame the past or circumstances for the state of my soul, but take responsibility for my own choices.

Forgive me for the times I may have questioned your justice, for you are the epitome of righteousness. Grant me the wisdom to discern your ways, to understand that it is not your path that is unjust but our own when we turn away from you.

Lord, I pray for your guidance and strength today. Help me to walk in righteousness and live a life that honors you. As I face the challenges and opportunities of this day, let me not be swayed by the world’s standards but remain steadfast in your truth.

In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Note of Encouragement for the Day:

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

As we start this new day, let us remember that God’s justice is perfect, and His ways are just. We are not victims of our past or circumstances, but rather, we are accountable for our own choices. Take heart, for in recognizing our responsibility, we also find the path to redemption and transformation.

Today, let us choose to walk in righteousness, knowing that our Heavenly Father is with us every step of the way. Embrace the opportunities to make choices that align with His will, and may His grace and guidance be upon you throughout this day.

Remember, it’s never too late to turn back to God’s ways and find His mercy and forgiveness. May your day be filled with His presence and the peace that comes from walking in His truth.

God bless you abundantly.
