As the Day Begins

Matthew 10:16-20:

“Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves. Beware of men, for they will deliver you over to courts and flog you in their synagogues, and you will be dragged before governors and kings for my sake, to bear witness before them and the Gentiles. When they deliver you over, do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say, for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour. For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.”

Morning Meditation:

In the stillness of the morning, let us reflect on these profound words from the Gospel of Matthew. As we embark on our daily journey, we are reminded that life often resembles a battlefield, where we, as followers of Christ, find ourselves as sheep amidst wolves. But fear not, for the Lord has equipped us with wisdom and innocence. Just as a serpent moves cautiously, aware of its surroundings, so too must we navigate the complexities of the world, while maintaining the purity of doves, untainted by the evils around us.

As we face challenges and tribulations, let us draw strength from the assurance that we are not alone. Our faith is tested in the fires of adversity, as we encounter opposition from those who may not understand or accept the message of Christ. Yet, in the midst of persecution, we are called to stand firm, for the Spirit of our Father will speak through us. In moments of uncertainty, let us surrender our anxieties and trust in His divine guidance, knowing that He will provide us with the words to proclaim His truth.

Prayer to the Heavenly Father:

Heavenly Father, in the midst of the trials and tribulations of this world, grant me the wisdom of serpents and the innocence of doves. Help me to navigate the challenges that lie ahead with discernment and purity of heart. Protect me from the snares of the enemy and strengthen my faith as I bear witness to Your truth.

Prayer to the Son:

Lord Jesus, you know the struggles and hardships that I face as I seek to follow you faithfully. Grant me the courage to endure persecution for Your sake and the strength to stand firm in the face of adversity. May Your presence be my constant companion, guiding me through every trial and tribulation.

Prayer to the Holy Spirit:

Holy Spirit, empower me with Your divine wisdom and insight, that I may speak boldly and fearlessly in the midst of opposition. Fill me with Your peace and assurance, knowing that You are with me always, guiding and directing my words and actions according to the will of the Father. Amen.

Thought for the Day:

As we go forth into the world, may we remember that we are not alone in our journey. With the wisdom of serpents and the innocence of doves, let us trust in the guidance of the Holy Spirit, knowing that He will equip us with the words to speak and the strength to endure.
