And Hezekiah prayed before the Lord and said: “O Lord, the God of Israel, enthroned above the cherubim, you are the God, you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; you have made heaven and earth. Incline your ear, O Lord, and hear; open your eyes, O Lord, and see; and hear the words of Sennacherib, which he has sent to mock the living God. Truly, O Lord, the kings of Assyria have laid waste the nations and their lands and have cast their gods into the fire, for they were not gods, but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone. Therefore, they were destroyed. So now, O Lord our God, save us, please, from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you, O Lord, are God alone.” (2 Kings 19:15-19 ESV)
Adoration
O Lord, the God of Israel, you are enthroned above the cherubim, and we praise you for your majesty and sovereignty. You alone are the true God, creator of heaven and earth. Your power and glory are evident in the vastness of the universe and the intricate details of life. We adore you for your unmatched greatness and your sovereign rule over all the kingdoms of the earth. Your eternal reign and creative power inspire awe and worship in our hearts. Amen.
Confession
Heavenly Father, we come before you acknowledging our sins, much like Hezekiah recognized the offenses against you. We confess that we often put our trust in things made by human hands rather than in you, the living God. Forgive us for our idolatry and for mocking your holiness through our actions, words, and thoughts. Cleanse us from our sins and renew our hearts to seek you alone. Amen.
Thanksgiving
Lord God, we thank you for your faithfulness and your attentive ear. You are the God who hears our prayers and sees our distress. We are grateful that you are not like the lifeless idols made by human hands, but the living God who engages with your creation. Thank you for your powerful acts of salvation, demonstrating your sovereignty and love. Your presence in our lives is a constant source of strength and hope. Amen.
Supplication
Gracious Father, we humbly ask for your intervention in our lives, just as Hezekiah pleaded for deliverance from the hand of the Assyrians. Save us from the threats and challenges we face, that all may know you are the Lord, the only true God. Grant us your protection and your peace, and help us to stand firm in our faith, trusting in your mighty power. Amen.
Consecration
Holy God, we commit ourselves to living in obedience to your will. Help us to incline our ears to your words and open our eyes to your truth, as Hezekiah did. Empower us to reject the false idols of our time and to honor you alone as the true God. Strengthen us to fulfill your commands and to bear witness to your greatness in all the earth. Amen.
Intercession
Compassionate Lord, we lift up our family, friends, and church community before you. We pray for their protection and deliverance from all that threatens their faith and well-being, just as Hezekiah sought deliverance for his people. We also intercede for our nation and its leaders, asking for your guidance and wisdom, that they may lead with integrity and righteousness. Let your glory be known among all people. Amen.
Amen
