A Prayerful Response to 1 Corinthians 3:21
“So let no one boast in men. For all things are yours.”
1 Corinthians 3:21 (ESV)
Adoration
Heavenly Father, I stand in awe of Your boundless generosity and sovereignty, which shine so clearly in Your Word. You are the Giver of all things, the Creator who holds the entire universe in Your hands, yet You have made us partakers of Your divine inheritance. I praise You for Your immeasurable wisdom that surpasses all human understanding, and for Your gracious provision that extends to every aspect of our lives. Lord, You are the source of all that is good and true, and I worship You for Your glorious and generous nature.
Confession
Lord, I come before You in humility, confessing my tendency to place my trust in human wisdom and achievements rather than in Your eternal truth. I acknowledge the sin of boasting in worldly things—whether it be in leaders, possessions, or my own understanding—forgetting that all things are Yours and are given by Your grace alone. Forgive me, Father, for these moments of pride and self-reliance. Cleanse my heart and renew my mind, that I may boast only in You and Your mighty works.
Thanksgiving
Gracious God, I thank You for the incredible truth that all things are mine through Christ Jesus. Thank You for the rich inheritance You have granted me—not through my merit, but through Your mercy and love. I am deeply grateful that You have made me a partaker of all things, whether they be present blessings or future promises. Thank You for the assurance that in You, I lack nothing, for all things are under Your sovereign control, and You have made them available to those who trust in You.
Supplication
Lord, I humbly ask that You grant me a heart that fully grasps the depth of this inheritance, so that I may live with confidence and peace, knowing that all things are mine in Christ. Help me to rely not on human wisdom, but on Your eternal truth as the foundation of my life. I also ask that You pour out Your wisdom and understanding upon me, so that I may discern Your will and walk in Your ways, making the most of all that You have graciously provided.
Consecration
Father, I commit myself to living according to the truth of Your Word, forsaking the temptation to boast in human accomplishments. Help me to embody the humility and faithfulness that You desire, recognizing that all things belong to You and that I am merely a steward of the blessings You have entrusted to me. Empower me to walk in obedience, boasting only in Your greatness, and using all that You have given me for Your glory and the good of others.
Intercession
Lord, I lift up my fellow believers, asking that You open their eyes to the fullness of the inheritance that they have in You. May they find their confidence in Your promises rather than in worldly accolades or possessions. I also intercede for the Church, that we may collectively reject the temptation to boast in human leaders or factions, and instead unite in the knowledge that all things belong to us in Christ, fostering a spirit of unity and shared purpose for Your Kingdom.
Closing Thought
As we journey through life, may we continually remember that all things belong to us through Christ Jesus. Let this truth shape our adoration, confession, thanksgiving, supplication, consecration, and intercession. May we live not in the fleeting wisdom of the world, but in the eternal riches of God’s grace, boasting only in Him who has made all things ours in Christ.
