Set Free: A Prayer of Worship and Surrender

Romans 6:6-7 (NIV):
For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin—because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.

Adoration

Heavenly Father, I come before You with a heart full of awe and wonder at Your infinite grace and power. Your Word reveals that through Christ, our old self has been crucified, and this truth reflects Your incredible mercy and love. You are the God who frees us from the chains of sin, breaking the power that once held us captive. I adore You for Your sovereignty over all things, including our very nature, and I worship You for the gift of freedom found in Christ Jesus. Thank You, Father, for being both our Redeemer and our Deliverer, leading us into the light of Your glorious grace.

Confession

Lord, I confess that even though my old self was crucified with Christ, I still struggle with the remnants of sin in my life. I acknowledge the times when I have allowed sin to reign in my thoughts, actions, and desires, forgetting that I am no longer a slave to it. Forgive me for the moments when I have willingly returned to the very chains You have broken. I repent of my failures, both seen and unseen, and ask for Your cleansing power to wash over me, restoring me to a right relationship with You. Lord, help me to live in the freedom that You have so graciously provided.

Thanksgiving

Gracious God, I thank You with all my heart for the profound truths found in Romans 6:6-7. Thank You for the crucifixion of my old self with Christ, which means that the power of sin has been broken in my life. I am no longer a slave to sin, and this freedom is a gift that only You could give. Thank You for setting me free, not just from the consequences of sin, but from its power and dominion over my life. Your love and sacrifice have given me a new identity, and I am eternally grateful for this transformation.

Supplication

Father, I humbly ask for Your continued grace in my life as I seek to live out the freedom You have given me. Strengthen me to resist the pull of my old self and empower me by Your Spirit to walk in the newness of life that Christ has provided. I also ask for the wisdom to recognize the subtle ways sin tries to reassert itself in my life, and for the courage to stand firm in the freedom You have won for me. Lord, grant me the perseverance to remain steadfast in this journey of sanctification, relying wholly on Your strength and guidance.

Consecration

Lord, I consecrate myself to You today, committing to live in the truth that my old self has been crucified with Christ. Help me to walk daily in the freedom from sin that You have secured for me, rejecting the lies of the enemy that seek to pull me back into bondage. I affirm my desire to live as one who has been set free, and I ask for Your help to fully embrace this new identity in Christ. May my life be a testament to Your power at work within me, transforming me day by day into the image of Your Son.

Intercession

Father, I lift up my brothers and sisters in Christ who are struggling with the reality of their old selves and the power of sin. I pray that they, too, would come to fully understand and embrace the truth that they are no longer slaves to sin. Grant them the strength to break free from any remaining chains and to walk in the freedom that Christ has provided. I also pray for the Church, that we would collectively live out this truth, shining as a beacon of hope in a world bound by sin. May we be united in our pursuit of holiness, encouraging one another to stand firm in the freedom that is ours in Christ.

Closing Thought

As we reflect on the freedom we have in Christ, let us be ever mindful of the gift of grace that has set us free from the power of sin. In our adoration, confession, thanksgiving, supplication, consecration, and intercession, may we continually seek to live out the truth that we are no longer slaves but free children of God. May this truth transform our hearts and lives, leading us into deeper worship and greater obedience to our Lord.
