“So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’ spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand—then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let no one on the housetop go down to take anything out of the house. Let no one in the field go back to get their cloak. How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath. For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again.”

As dawn breaks, the words of Matthew 24:15–21 call us to reflect on the fragility of the world and the enduring strength of God’s kingdom. Jesus’ prophetic warning about the “abomination that causes desolation” is a reminder of the moments in history where evil seems to triumph, desecrating what is sacred and turning the hearts of many to fear. His call to flee without delay echoes with a deeper spiritual truth: there are moments in life where decisive action is necessary, and our faith must propel us forward, even in the face of uncertainty. It challenges us to prioritize what is eternal over what is temporary and to trust in God’s provision when the path ahead seems daunting.
The vivid imagery of distress—especially for the vulnerable, such as nursing mothers—reveals Jesus’ deep compassion. Even in foretelling tribulation, His words carry an invitation to pray and prepare, leaning on God’s mercy. These verses remind us that while trials are inevitable, God equips us to endure them with faith and resolve. Heavenly Father,
As the sun rises, I lift my heart to You in gratitude and reverence. Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path, guiding me through the uncertainties of life. Father, the warning of Your Son in Matthew 24 reminds me of the trials that may come, yet I find peace in knowing that You are the Author of time and the Keeper of all things. Today, I ask for the courage to let go of anything that hinders my walk with You, to trust in Your provision, and to remain steadfast in my faith. Teach me to respond to Your call with urgency and to place my hope in Your eternal promises. Father, as I face the unknowns of this day, may Your presence be my refuge and strength.
Lord Jesus,
You are my Savior and Redeemer, the One who speaks truth even in the face of coming trials. Your words in Matthew 24 stir my heart to prepare, to pray, and to trust in Your guidance. Lord, as I walk through this day, help me to remember that You are with me, even in the darkest valleys.
