As the Day Begins

Eyes of Faith

Scripture: Matthew 9:28 (ESV) — “When He entered the house, the blind men came to Him, and Jesus said to them, ‘Do you believe that I am able to do this?’ They said to Him, ‘Yes, Lord.’

As the light of a new day breaks, this question from Jesus still echoes across the corridors of time: “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” It is a question not merely for the blind men of Galilee but for every soul awakening this morning with fears, uncertainties, hopes, and dreams. Jesus invites us into a sacred dialogue of faith. Before He acted, He asked for belief. Before the miracle, He asked for the heart.

In this moment, the blind men were not seeking casual help; they were reaching for transformation. Their physical blindness mirrored the spiritual blindness many of us carry—the inability to see beyond our problems, pain, or past. Jesus, knowing all, could have healed them without a word. But He asked. He invited them to speak their faith aloud. “Do you believe?” He wasn’t testing them to trap them but leading them to trust.

And they said, “Yes, Lord.” Not just “yes” but “Yes, Lord” — a declaration of authority, a confession of submission, and a plea of belief. Today, Jesus still seeks that answer. Not an intellectual assent but a heart-driven affirmation. Will you, this very morning, confess with your whole being, “Yes, Lord, I believe You are able”?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, as the day begins, I come before You needing to be reminded of who You are. You are the Creator of light, the Designer of each moment. When I am surrounded by darkness or indecision, let me remember that You still ask, “Do you believe?” Thank You for Your patient love, for asking me what You already know, simply to draw me closer to You. I confess I often try to handle things on my own. Forgive me. Let my answer to You always be a resounding “Yes, Lord.”

Lord Jesus, You are the Healer of every broken place. Just as You welcomed the blind men into the house, I ask that You welcome me into Your presence today. I believe You are able. Able to calm storms, open eyes, restore relationships, provide strength, and lead me in Your way. Let my faith not be limited by what I see but expanded by who You are. You never turn away a sincere heart. Let me not hesitate to say, with reverence and love, “Yes, Lord, I believe.”

Holy Spirit, dwell in me this morning and ignite the fire of faith afresh. Help me see with spiritual clarity. Keep me from the blindness of fear or doubt. Guide my steps, stir my heart, and remind me throughout the day that the God I serve is more than able. Let my belief shape my decisions, color my thoughts, and brighten my words. Make me a vessel of belief in a skeptical world. Let faith be the lens through which I live today.

Thought for the Day: Jesus is still asking, “Do you believe I am able?” Your answer can shape the course of your day and even your life. Say with confidence and humility, “Yes, Lord.”

Blessing: May the peace of the Lord Jesus Christ settle into your heart as you begin this day. May your steps be steady, your eyes fixed on Him, and your answer ever be “Yes, Lord.” Thank you for beginning your day in the presence of the Lord. Walk in His strength and grace.
