As the Day Begins

Seeing Christ Clearly Shapes Everything

Scripture Reference:
Colossians 1:15-16 (ESV) – “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.”

Devotional Meditation:
As we open our eyes to the light of a new day, the apostle Paul’s words in Colossians remind us who Jesus truly is. He is not just a teacher, prophet, or moral guide; He is the image of the invisible God. If you have ever wondered what God is like, look at Jesus. In His compassion, wisdom, power, and humility, we see the perfect representation of God Himself. That is a remarkable truth to carry into the busyness of today—that we are loved by and walking with the One who not only knows God but is God.

This scripture also declares that all things were created by Him, through Him, and for Him. That includes us. Our lives are not random or insignificant. We were made with divine intent and purpose. Every sunrise, every relationship, every task we undertake is an opportunity to reflect His glory. I remember walking through a botanical garden, marveling at the intricate designs of flowers and leaves, and realizing that every detail of creation is a testament to Christ’s creativity and sovereignty. If He took such care with petals, how much more does He care for us?

Furthermore, in a world where powers and authorities often seem overwhelming, Paul reassures us that every ruler and dominion is under Christ’s authority. Even the invisible realms are subject to Him. This anchors our hearts when the news is troubling or when personal struggles feel insurmountable. We are not adrift in chaos; we are held in the hands of the Creator who made all things for His purpose. This day, then, is not just another 24 hours—it is a gift crafted by Jesus Himself for His glory and our growth.

Triune Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of this day and for revealing Yourself to us through Jesus. I am humbled by the thought that I am made in Your image and that my life is meant to reflect Your glory. Guide me today to see the beauty of Your creation and to remember that I am part of Your grand design. Help me to honor You in my words, decisions, and interactions with others. May I carry the awareness of Your sovereignty into every moment.

Lord Jesus, my Savior and Creator, I praise You for being the image of the invisible God. Thank You for showing us the character and heart of the Father through Your life and sacrifice. You created all things, including me, and I belong to You. Strengthen me to live today with purpose, remembering that my life was made through You and for You. Let me walk closely with You, aware of Your presence and relying on Your grace for every challenge I face.

Holy Spirit, my Comforter and Guide, fill me anew this morning. I need Your wisdom to discern the right path and Your strength to live out my faith with courage and integrity. Remind me of Jesus throughout the day. Stir my heart with gratitude for the wonder of creation and help me to see Your fingerprints in the ordinary. Teach me to worship not just in moments of prayer but in the way I live, love, and serve others today.

Thought for the Day:
Remember that you were made by Jesus, through Jesus, and for Jesus. Everything in your life finds its meaning in Him.

Blessing:
Thank you for beginning your day in God’s presence. May the awareness of Christ’s supremacy and love shape your thoughts, guide your steps, and inspire your heart throughout this day.
