As the Day Begins
“Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.” — Revelation 7:10 (NIV) (Bible Gateway)
There are mornings when the troubles of the world seem to reach us before we have even left the house. We hear of suffering we cannot relieve, decisions we cannot influence, and people we cannot persuade. We may wonder whether anyone is capable of bringing the world to a good end. Revelation gives us a scene to hold beside those concerns: a multitude from every nation and language stands before God’s throne, praising Him and the Lamb. They know where their salvation came from. That vision does not ask us to overlook suffering. A few verses later, we learn that these worshipers have come through great tribulation, and God promises to wipe away their tears. Their praise has room for the history they have lived. The One who holds the future also sees what His people endure today. We can therefore begin the day with honest concern and steady trust. We have work to do, people to love, and a witness to bear; God asks us to be faithful in these things while entrusting salvation to Him. (Bible Gateway)
Prayer to the Father
Heavenly Father, thank You that Your throne stands above every uncertainty I will meet today. I confess that I often carry concerns as though their outcome depends entirely on me. Some of those concerns are real, and I do need to respond to them with care. Help me see which responsibilities You have placed in my hands, and give me the humility to leave the rest in Yours. When troubling news reaches me, draw me first to prayer. Let Your mercy toward people of every nation enlarge my compassion for the people I meet close to home.
Prayer to the Son
Jesus the Son, worthy Lamb, I thank You that the multitude’s song names You alongside the Father. You gave Yourself for our salvation, and I need Your grace as much on an ordinary morning as I will at the end of my life. Guard me from placing my deepest confidence in human strength, including my own. Teach me to follow You in the decisions before me: to speak truth with kindness, serve without seeking praise, and remain faithful when I cannot see what my obedience will accomplish.
Prayer to the Holy Spirit
Holy Spirit, turn my attention toward what is true when fear pulls it toward every possible loss. Bring Scripture to mind as I work, travel, and speak with others. Give me patience with those who disagree with me, courage to help someone in need, and discernment about when to act and when to wait. Make the hope of Revelation more than a distant picture to me. Let it shape the way I live this day, so that my trust in God can be seen in my conduct.
Thought for the Day: When a concern feels larger than your ability to address it, name one faithful action you can take today. Do it prayerfully, then entrust the outcome to the God and the Lamb to whom salvation belongs.
