Independent charismatic churches (23%) lead the annual Church Growth Today list of the 100 Largest Churches for the period 2009-2010. While denomi-national churches lead the largest churches (51%) list the non-denominational churches were very close (49%).
Independent non-charismatic churches were
the 2nd largest group of churches with a total of 16% of the churches. When combined with with the Independent charismatic congregations they made up
39% or nearly 40% of the top 100 churches.
Other groups next in the list include Southern Baptists (15%), Calvary Chapels (11%), Christian Churches/Churches of Christ (6%), and Assemblies of God (5%).
An average of 1.2 million people attended the churches in the list on an average weekend.
