What a disservice we do when we humanize God by imagining him as the best of humanity rather than Who He is.
Lord God, You are very great. You are clothed with splendor and majesty. You wrap Yourself in light as with a garment. You stretch out the heavens like a tent and lay the beams of Your upper chambers on their waters.
You make the clouds Your chariot and ride on the wings of the wind. You make the winds Your messengers, flames of fire Your servants (Ps. 104:1-4).
My Father and my God, You are seated on a throne, high and exalted. The train of Your robe fills the temple. Above You are the seraphs, calling to one another, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of His glory” (Isa. 6:1-3).
