When Nothing Is Impossible

In Luke 1:37, God reminds Mary that nothing is impossible for Him in the completion of His will. Where else in the Bible do we find God or believers making such a statement and how can that fact prepare our hearts for worship?

The statement “nothing is impossible for God” is a recurring theme throughout the Bible. In Genesis 18:14, God asks Abraham, “Is anything too hard for the Lord?” Similarly, in Jeremiah 32:27, God says, “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is anything too hard for me?” In Matthew 19:26, Jesus tells his disciples, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

These statements remind us that God is all-powerful and capable of doing anything that is in line with His will. They also remind us that we should have faith and trust in God, even when things seem impossible from a human perspective. By acknowledging that nothing is impossible for God, we can approach worship with a sense of awe and wonder, recognizing that God is far greater and more powerful than we can imagine.

This perspective can also inspire us to pray with greater faith and expectation, knowing that God is able to do more than we could ever ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). It can also give us hope in difficult situations, knowing that God is able to work all things together for our good (Romans 8:28).

The statement “nothing is impossible for God” is a powerful reminder of God’s sovereignty, power, and faithfulness throughout the Bible. By keeping this truth in mind, we can approach worship with a sense of awe and wonder, and have faith and hope in God’s ability to work in our lives and accomplish His will.

When Jesus said “With man this is impossible but with God all things are possible”, what was Jesus speaking about. And since we mortal and cannot even conceive of His power, what was Jesus saying was impossible for us that was possible for God?

The statement “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible” is found in Matthew 19:26. Jesus was speaking to his disciples after a rich young man had just walked away from Jesus, unwilling to give up his possessions to follow Him. Jesus then said, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God” (Matthew 19:23-24).

The disciples were astonished by this statement, and asked Jesus, “Who then can be saved?” (Matthew 19:25). Jesus’ response was, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26).

In this context, Jesus was speaking about the difficulty of entering the kingdom of God for those who put their trust in their riches, rather than in God. He was saying that it is impossible for anyone to save themselves through their own efforts, but that salvation is only possible through God’s grace and power.

In a broader sense, this statement applies to all areas of life where we face difficulties, challenges, or obstacles that seem insurmountable. Whether it be in our personal lives, relationships, or ministry, we are often faced with situations where we feel powerless and helpless. In these situations, Jesus’ statement reminds us that God’s power is limitless and that nothing is impossible for Him.

As mortals, we are limited in our power and abilities, but God is not. He is able to accomplish His purposes and plans in ways that we cannot even imagine. Therefore, we can trust Him to work in our lives and in the world around us, even when things seem impossible from a human perspective.

In summary, Jesus’ statement “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible” applies to all areas of life where we face difficulties or challenges. It reminds us of our limitations as mortals and of God’s limitless power and ability to accomplish His will.
