Luke 15:20-24 (ESV):
“And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet. And bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate. For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to celebrate.”
Evening Meditation on Luke 15:20-24

Heavenly Father,
As I close my eyes tonight, I am reminded of the overwhelming love You have for me. You are the Father who sees me even when I am far off, who runs to meet me with open arms, despite my shortcomings. Thank You for never giving up on me, for watching and waiting even when I have strayed from Your path. Father, I confess that I have often fallen short of what You’ve called me to be. But just as the prodigal son returned to his father, I return to You now, seeking Your grace and mercy. Restore me, Lord. Wrap me in the robe of Your righteousness, place the ring of sonship on my hand, and guide me back into Your presence. Tonight, I ask for Your peace to rest upon me as I sleep, knowing that I am fully loved and fully accepted by You.
Lord Jesus,
You are the One who has made my restoration possible through Your sacrifice on the cross. Just as the father in the parable celebrated the return of his lost son, I know that heaven celebrates when I come back to You. Jesus, I thank You for paying the price that I could never pay, for taking my place so that I could be restored to the Father. Help me to live each day in the light of this truth, to remember that my worth is not in what I’ve done but in what You have done for me. As I rest tonight, I lay down every burden at Your feet.
