Praying the Scripture

Connecting with God’s Word

“So I lay prostrate before the Lord for these forty days and forty nights, because the Lord had said he would destroy you. I prayed to the Lord and said, O Lord God, do not destroy your people and your heritage, whom you have redeemed through your greatness, whom you have brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand. Remember your servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Do not regard the stubbornness of this people, or their wickedness or their sin, lest the land from which you brought us say, ‘Because the Lord was not able to bring them into the land that he promised them, and because he hated them, he has brought them out to put them to death in the wilderness.’ For they are your people and your heritage, whom you brought out by your great power and by your outstretched arm.”Deuteronomy 9:25-29

Adoration

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of adoration for Your unmatched greatness and infinite mercy. “O Lord God, do not destroy your people and your heritage, whom you have redeemed through your greatness, whom you have brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand.” We praise You for Your mighty hand that delivers and redeems. We honor You for Your steadfast love and faithfulness, remembering how You brought Your people out of Egypt with power and grace. You are our Redeemer and Mighty Savior, worthy of all praise and glory. Amen.

Confession

O Lord, we humble ourselves before You, acknowledging our sinfulness and the times we have been stubborn and rebellious. We confess that we, like the Israelites, have often turned away from Your commandments and have not trusted in Your promises. Forgive us, Lord, for our wickedness and sin. “Do not regard the stubbornness of this people, or their wickedness or their sin.” Cleanse our hearts and renew a right spirit within us, that we may walk in obedience and faithfulness to You. Amen.

Thanksgiving

Gracious God, we thank You for Your enduring mercy and for remembering Your covenant with Your people. “Remember your servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.” We are grateful for Your faithfulness to Your promises, as You did not abandon the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. We thank You for redeeming us and making us Your heritage, chosen and beloved by You. We are eternally grateful for Your mighty power and outstretched arm that continues to deliver us from bondage and lead us into Your promised inheritance. Amen.

Supplication

Father, we humbly ask for Your continued presence and guidance in our lives. “Do not destroy your people and your heritage, whom you have redeemed through your greatness.” Grant us the strength to remain steadfast in our faith, trusting in Your mighty hand to lead and protect us. We also pray for Your wisdom and discernment as we navigate through life’s challenges, relying on Your great power to deliver us from all harm and danger. Amen.

Consecration

Lord, we commit ourselves to following Your will and commands. “For they are your people and your heritage, whom you brought out by your great power and by your outstretched arm.” Help us to remember our identity as Your people, chosen and redeemed by You. Strengthen our resolve to live according to Your ways, forsaking all forms of stubbornness and wickedness. Empower us by Your Spirit to fulfill Your purposes, reflecting Your love and grace to the world around us. Amen.

Intercession

Merciful God, we lift up our brothers and sisters in Christ, asking for Your blessings upon their lives. “Do not regard the stubbornness of this people, or their wickedness or their sin.” We intercede for those who are struggling with sin, asking for Your forgiveness and restoration. We also pray for our leaders, that they may seek Your wisdom and guidance in all their decisions. May Your church be a beacon of light and hope, drawing others to Your saving grace. Amen.

Amen

In the name of Jesus Christ, who taught us to pray and intercede, we offer these prayers, trusting in Your unfailing love and mercy. Amen.
