As the Day Begins

Morning Meditation on Matthew 5:27-30

In Matthew 5:27-30, Jesus extends the commandment against adultery, deepening the understanding from a mere physical act to the intentions and thoughts of the heart. He emphasizes the importance of purity in thought, teaching that even looking at another person with lustful intent is akin to committing adultery in the heart.

Morning Prayer

Heavenly Father, who sees beyond our actions into the depths of our hearts, grant us this day the strength to cultivate purity in our thoughts and intentions. As we reflect on Your words through Your Son, Jesus Christ, help us to guard our hearts against the temptations that besiege us, recognizing that our moral integrity begins within. May we honor You not only in our deeds but also in our desires, striving always to be faithful in all aspects of our lives. Purify our minds, O Lord, and lead us in Your ways of righteousness. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Thought for the Day

“Let the inner sanctity of your heart guide your eyes and actions, fostering a life of integrity and faith.”
