Praying the Word

2 Chronicles 20:5-12 (NIV)

Then Jehoshaphat stood up in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem at the temple of the Lord in the front of the new courtyard and said: “Lord, the God of our ancestors, are you not the God who is in heaven? You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. Power and might are in your hand, and no one can withstand you. Our God, did you not drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel and give it forever to the descendants of Abraham your friend? They have lived in it and have built in it a sanctuary for your Name, saying, ‘If calamity comes upon us, whether the sword of judgment, or plague or famine, we will stand in your presence before this temple that bears your Name and will cry out to you in our distress, and you will hear us and save us.’ But now here are men from Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, whose territory you would not allow Israel to invade when they came from Egypt; so they turned away from them and did not destroy them. See how they are repaying us by coming to drive us out of the possession you gave us as an inheritance. Our God, will you not judge them? For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.”

Adoration

Heavenly Father, we stand in awe of Your majestic power and sovereign rule. You are the God who reigns from heaven, ruling over all the kingdoms of the nations. Your power and might are unmatchable, and no one can withstand You. We praise You for Your steadfast love and Your unfailing faithfulness, which are evident in every corner of our lives. Your mighty hand has delivered us time and time again, just as You delivered Israel and gave them the land as an inheritance. We worship You for Your eternal goodness and for being our refuge in times of distress. Amen.

Confession

Merciful God, we come before You, acknowledging our shortcomings and sins. Like the people of Israel, we often forget Your mighty works and fail to trust in Your deliverance. We confess our sins of doubt and fear, our lack of faith in Your promises, and our neglect in seeking Your presence in times of trouble. Forgive us, Lord, for not keeping our eyes on You and for relying on our strength. Cleanse us from all unrighteousness and renew a steadfast spirit within us. Amen.

Thanksgiving

Gracious Father, we thank You for Your unwavering faithfulness and Your mighty acts of salvation. We are grateful for the inheritance You have given us, just as You gave the land to the descendants of Abraham. Thank You for being our God who hears our cries and saves us in our distress. We are also thankful for Your righteous judgment and Your protection against those who seek to harm us. Your promises are sure, and we are forever grateful for Your provision and care. Amen.

Supplication

Loving Father, we turn to You in our time of need, trusting in Your strength and mercy. We ask for Your divine intervention in our battles, just as You defended Israel against their enemies. Strengthen us, Lord, to face the challenges that lie ahead with courage and faith. We also pray for wisdom and guidance, for we often do not know what to do, but our eyes are on You. Grant us Your peace and help us to walk in Your ways. Amen.

Consecration

Holy God, we commit ourselves to following Your will and obeying Your word. Help us to stand firm in Your presence, seeking Your face in times of trouble and trusting in Your deliverance. Empower us to live lives that honor Your Name and reflect Your glory. We also dedicate ourselves to building a sanctuary for Your Name in our hearts, a place where we continually worship and seek You. Strengthen our resolve to walk in obedience to Your commands and to live as faithful witnesses of Your grace. Amen.

Intercession

Compassionate Father, we lift up our brothers and sisters in Christ, asking for Your abundant blessings upon their lives. We pray for those who are facing overwhelming challenges, that they may find comfort and strength in You. May Your mighty hand protect and deliver them, just as You delivered Israel. We also intercede for our leaders and our nation, that they may seek Your wisdom and guidance in all their decisions. May Your justice and righteousness prevail in our land. Amen.

Amen
